The Missoula Community School, a non-profit preschool, is currently hiring for the following positions: full time teacher assistant, part time aftercare teacher assistant, and part time custodian. Read below for more detailed job descriptions.

Full time staff and teachers: 

We are currently seeking a full time Assistant Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.

Hours

9:00 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday

OR

8:30 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday

*Schedule can be discussed more in-depth during interview process. Averages 35 hours per week.

Position

Assist teacher in all aspects of implementing program of early childhood education and care for children ages 2 through 5 years of age. The contract begins asap and ends June 7, 2019, with the potential of a new contract extended for the following school year.

Compensation

Position is $11/hour

Full Time Assistants Teachers:

  • Are eligible to participate in group health insurance plan; school covers 90% of insurance.
  • Are eligible to participate in a health savings account; school contributes $200 with employee welcome to add more to this fund, pretax.
  • Receive PTO.

Experience and Qualifications

Experience with young children in an educational setting and knowledge of child development is needed. The Teacher Assistant must be prepared to use the MCS philosophy as a framework to assist in all areas of the class including, activities and field trips. He/She will respond sensitively and creatively to the needs of individual children and families, and above all, ensure the physical and emotional safety of all children. This person must relate well to children and adults, and possess qualities of maturity, enthusiasm, patience and good judgment as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. The person selected for this position must possess a passion for working with children and families and a strong desire to be on the forefront of creating a vital and unique education program in a progressive, community oriented environment. Working as a team is critical, and as such the person selected must be flexible, creative, and committed to alternative education.

The Assistant Teacher must:

  • Complete approved CPR and 1st Aid courses prior to working with MCS children
  • Complete required licensing training within 90 days of hire
  • Provide documentation of immunizations as required by the state licensing agency
  • Complete a background check
  • Have experience working with young children

Responsibilities of the Teacher Assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a safe, clean and nurturing environment
  • Assist in implementing planned activities/curriculum
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and families at all times
  • Display professionalism, including being punctual, dependable, flexible, a committed team member, and willing to follow the school’s policies and procedures.

Part Time Teachers and Staff

After Care Teacher Assistant

Hours

2:30pm – 5:30pm Monday through Friday

Part Time Custodian

Compensation

$11/hour

Position

The ideal candidate will strive to keep the school in a clean and orderly condition. Duties include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, emptying garbages, window cleaning, bathrooms (cleaning and stocking). During school breaks where regular tasks are fewer, duties will include deep cleaning (under/behind furniture). Summer duties include carpet shampooing and floor waxing. We can train for floor waxing. Qualified candidates must have previous cleaning experience as well as follow written and oral directions.

Upon hire, the candidate will need to turn in all paperwork required by the state’s childcare licensing department, including a release of information, statement of health, proof of MMR, proof of current tetanus, and fingerprints.

Hours

Days and hours are Monday through Friday, 3 hours per day. These hours can fall anywhere between 5 pm – 10 pm. The position is year round, with major holidays off.
