Current (2016-2017) school year: Please call the office for the latest information. There are often small fluctuations in enrollment due to families moving, changing jobs, starting a new semester at the university, and so forth.
General information for the 2017-2018 School Year:
MCS will start our waitlist for the 2017-2018 school year November 1st. New prospective families are encouraged to tour the school and place their child/children on the waitlist in the fall and winter prior to starting school (November 2016 – January 2017 to enroll starting in September 2017). The enrollment process at MCS kicks into full swing each year with in-house re-enrollment in late January and early February. Once all the in-house students are signed up for the coming year (that includes both returning students and younger siblings of current students), the staff begin consulting the waitlist of new interested families. New enrollments are accepted if space is available in each age group and schedule. New interested families are contacted in the order in which they signed onto the waitlist. For 2016, waitlist enrollment began the week of President’s Day. The Missoula Community School does not require an application or interview for new enrollments; children are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Enrollment Information for the 2017-2018 School Year:
Tours and the waitlist for the 2017-2018 school year begin November 1st, 2016. Your completed waitlist application can be turned into the Missoula Community School office (waitlist-application-17.18). A tour of the school must be scheduled for your application to join the waitlist. Tour dates vary, but occur at 10am. Please call the school at 542-2833 to schedule your tour.
In-house re-enrollment will begin mid winter. During that time, currently enrolled families have priority in selecting schedules and securing spots for the coming year, including spots for siblings. In-house re-enrollment continues through late January/early February. Currently enrolled families can find the paperwork in their parent pocket during the re-enrollment period. Any re-enrollment requests or requests for schedule changes after that time will be filed and processed along with Wait List requests for new families. Therefore, it is very important for current families wishing to re-enroll their child(ren) to turn paperwork promptly.
MCS staff will then process wait-list applications in the order in which they were received. Calls to families on the wait-list will begin mid February. We will work to be as timely as possible; thanks for understanding that this process takes time and we will contact you as soon as possible. Everyone on the wait-list will be called and informed of your status.
Visiting the school:
If you would like to find out more about Missoula Community School, we recommend you visit during school hours. Visits are normally scheduled in the mornings, with tours for prospective families starting in November of the year prior to enrollment (i.e. November 2015 to enroll starting September 2016) and continuing into winter and spring. During your visit, you will meet with the director to discuss our programs and have any questions answered, and then enter the classrooms to observe and get a feel for our philosophy and practices. We recommend making a first visit without your child, to more easily be able to view the classroom through adult eyes and ask all the questions you’d like. If you then wish to schedule a second visit with your child we are more than happy to do so.
Tuition and Financial Assistance:
Go to our Hours and Tuition page for a complete explanation of our tuition and fees. For full information on our financial assistance programs, refer to our “Is financial aid available?” section.
Who will my child’s teacher be? Can I make a request?
It is not possible to answer the first question until late summer, since our Small Groups are not formed until that time. We want parents to know that ALL of our teachers are here because we believe they are outstanding at what they do. A teacher unfamiliar to you or new to the school may just be a great fit for your child! We discourage teacher requests for these reasons; thanks for understanding!
I have so many more questions!
Great! We have a list of common enrollment questions and answers on our “Frequently Asked Questions” page.
To schedule a visit, ask a question, or add your name to the waitlist, contact the school office at: (406) 542-2833 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
