School Day Hour Change

In response to the ongoing challenges associated with a 9 am – 3 pm school day, the Board of Directors has voted to increase the regular school day hours for the upcoming school year.  The school day hours for the 2020/2021 year will be 8:30am-3:30pm. This change seeks to accommodate the noticeable increase in families who depend on extended care, which has outstripped our capacity.  Overfull extended care has even resulted in some families being unable to enroll in the Community School at all. This empties our buckets in a big way!  

 What does this mean for you?

The school day will start in the same manner it does now, with the open community time first thing in the morning.  Families are welcome to continue to enjoy a ‘rolling start’, for those who like to take a slower start to the morning. 

Extended Care will continue to be offered for those who need it.  Before Care will run 7:30am-8:30am, After Care will run 3:30pm-5:30pm

The Summer Camp day for Community School campers is also 9:00am – 3:00pm.  Before care is slightly shorter (8:00am – 9:00am) and after care ends slightly earlier (3:00pm – 5:00pm) when compared to the school year schedule. Campers attend camps either 3 (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday) or 5 days a week, depending on their schedule.
